Microstructure and performances of graphite scattered Cr3C2-NiCr composites prepared by laser processing

► Cr3C2-NiCr composite reinforced mainly with one type of carbide and scattered with graphite was firstly in situ synthesized. ► The solidification of laser melt occurs in brief as: L→L+(Ni)→L+(Cr3C2)+(Ni)→(Ni)+(Cr3C2)+(C). ► Wear resistance of the composite is greatly improved, whereas the corrosion resistance decreases.
