Effect of CVD SiC seal coating on the mechanical properties of Cf/SiC composites generated through CVI

► C/SiC composites with and without BN interface were derived by ICVI technique. ► BN interphase increases the work of fracture. ► SiC seal coating improves the stiffness of the composites. ► CVD SiC seal coating repairs the defects generated during machining operations. ► Work of fracture of the composites with BN interface is 14 kJ/m2.
