Characterization of plasma-sprayed tungsten coating on graphite with intermediate layers

► Pure W powders were successfully coated on graphite substrate using VPS coating. ► Two different intermediate layers were deposited to the graphite substrate. ► Ti intermediate layer shows good adhesion to the graphite after heat exposure experiment. ► W-coated graphite parts will extend prolonged service life in a crystal growing furnace.
