Influence of Zinc coating on dynamic tensile properties of Si–Mn TRIP-aided steels with and without Nb-addition was investigated in the range of 400 to 1600 s− 1. The dynamic tensile properties were determined using a pneumatic indirect bar–bar tensile impact tester. The results indicate that: (i) the dynamic tensile behavior of TRIP-aided steel with or without coating is rather sensitive to the strain rate; (ii) Zinc coating strongly affects the deformation of substrate during high rate deformation and decreases the yield and tensile strength with mutative elongation behavior at the strain rate of 1300 s− 1; (iii) the energy absorbability of TRIP-aided steels with or without Zn coating increases with the increase of strain rate; and Zn coating decreases the steel's energy absorbability.
