Numerical reproduction method of unsteady small-scale eddy field in the ocean

► A new method for reproducing transient oceanic turbulence fields is proposed. ► Eddies were extracted from measured velocity at four points by a wavelet transforms. ► The extracted eddies were forced in DNS to generate eddies of smaller scales. ► To eliminate upscale energy cascade, a partial spectral filter was developed. ► Estimated dissipation rate and vertical diffusivity at deep ocean were validated.
