MgO-loaded porous carbon for carbon dioxide sorption: Study on cyclic sorption-regeneration

► Poly(ethylene terephthalate) heated with magnesite gives porous carbon holding MgO. ► MgO-loaded porous carbon captures CO2 at moderate temperature. ► MgO-loaded sorbent saturated with CO2 can be regenerated and used repeatedly. ► Thermal regeneration of the sorbent entails a small mass loss of the material. ► Specific surface area of the sorbent remains unchanged after thermal regeneration.
