Multi attribute transform and neural network in porosity estimation of an offshore oil field - A case study

► Model based inversion has been used to obtain acoustic impedance attribute. ► According to validation criteria for porosity prediction, multi attribute linear transform has given accurate results. ► An improvement of eight percent in correlation between predicted porosity and actual porosity was achieved. ► A reduction of 1.1 percent in error was observed, which could be of great importance in volumetric calculations of reserve volume.
