Synthesis, growth and characterisation of tetrathiourea cadmium tetrathiocyanato zincate single crystals

► TCTZ single crystal of dimension 28×5×4 mm3 is successfully grown. ► 3:1 water-acetone mixed solvent was chosen for the growth of bulk TCTZ. ► The structural, optical, thermal and mechanical properties are discussed. ► Etching studies show layer growth pattern, which indicate the 2D growth mechanism. ► The work hardening coefficient n suggests that TCTZ is relatively a soft material.
