Recent progress on batch processed large size LRE-123 bulk superconductors using a novel thin film Nd-123 seed

► We developed a batch production of large grain c-axis oriented GdBa2Cu3Oy and SmBa2Cu3Oy. ► The NdBa2Cu3Oy thin film made on MgO seeds can withstand temperatures >1100 °C. ► More than 50 mm in size GdBa2Cu3Oy superconductors can be fabricated by cold seeding. ► The experimental results indicated that sample quality is excellent.
