Progress of metallic superconductors in Japan

► Japanese contributions on the R&D of different metallic superconductors are summarized. ► Nb-Ti wires have been developed for MRI, accelerator, MAGLEV train and other applications. ► Multifilamentary Nb3Sn wires with excellent performance have been developed for high-field use. ► Long-length Nb3Al wires with promising strain tolerance have been fabricated by a new process.
