The study on improving the self-protection ability of HTS coils by removing the insulation and lamination of the various metal tapes

► We suggested two unique methods to improve self protection ability in HTS coils. ► First method, we removed the insulation in HTS coil. ► Second method, Cu or Brass tapes were inserted in HTS coil. ► Current sharing was occurred in non-insulated coil and Cu tape inserted coil. ► The transient stability was improved by current sharing.
