To clarify how superfluid density ns changes with the emergence of the static-stripe ordering, the in-plane penetration depth λab (∝ns-1/2) is evaluated from detailed magnetization measurements in La1.84−yEuySr0.16CuO4 single crystals, in which the degree of static-stripe fluctuations is controlled by the Eu content without changing the carrier concentration. A significant suppression of ns is found when static-stripes are stabilized, indicating that carriers forming static-stripes do not turn into Cooper pairs. Whereas Tc-suppression is clearly associated with this ns-reduction, Tc remains high at ns → 0, suggesting that a real space phase separation occurs in this extreme region.
