What can be the role of AdS/CFT in the phenomenology of heavy ion collisions?

Recently, the AdS/CFT correspondence has been used to calculate several quantities of interest for the phenomenology of heavy ion collisions. Here, I discuss the role which this correspondence can play in the phenomenology of heavy ion collisions, keeping in mind that it does not apply directly to QCD.
