Neutrino flavour appearance at LNGS: results and perspectives
چکیده انگلیسی

The Gran Sasso National Laboratory of INFN (LNGS) is the largest underground laboratory in the world and it is a research infrastructure mainly dedicated to astroparticle and neutrino physics. It offers the most advanced underground facility in terms of dimensions, complexity and completeness of its infrastructures. The full range of activities at LNGS can be grouped into a few main lines of research like Dark matter searches, Neutrino physics, Nuclear Astrophysics and Associate Sciences. Various aspects of the neutrino physics study are addressed making use of different neutrino sources, both natural (the Sun, stars and the Earth) and artificial (particle accelerators). The long baseline (LBL) Cern Neutrino Gran Sasso (CNGS) beam offers a unique opportunity to perform neutrino flavour appearance studies at LNGS exploited by the ICARUS and OPERA experiments. A review of the main results obtained by the two experiments will be given together with considerations on the perspectives of medium and short base line neutrino projects at LNGS.
