Coherent pion production on nuclei

We present a new analysis for coherent pion production on nuclei relevant for the energies available at K2K, MiniBoone and Minos. This work is based on two new contributions. (1) The realization and demonstration that coherent pion production takes place in a kinematic region where the PCAC and chiral symmetry are applicable. (2) The effective use of pion–carbon, and in general pion–nucleus, scattering data which already include nuclear shadowing. Our theoretical curves are in agreement with experimental data from several groups.
