Charm and charmonium spectroscopy in BaBar

The BaBar experiment at the PEP-II B-factory offers excellent opportunities in charm and charmonium spectroscopy. The recent observation of new states in the Ds and in the charmonium mass regions revived the interest in this field. Recent BaBar results are presented.
