Methodologies for the characterization, identification and quantification of S-nitrosylated proteins

► Protein S-nitrosylation is critical for signal transduction by nitric oxide (NO). ► S-nitrosylated proteins (SNO-proteins) are often difficult to detect and quantify. ► Decomposition of SNO-protein to NO or nitrite is required for absolute quantification. ► Thiol-based assays can be used to identify sites of S-nitrosylation (SNO-sites).
