R/G-band boundaries: Genomic instability and human disease

► We describe the relationship between chromosome bands and genome sequences. ► Zones (R/G boundaries) between different regions show increased genomic instability. ► R/G boundaries also contain genes associated with human genetic diseases. ► We propose strategies for genome and epigenome analyses based on R/G boundaries.
