The CRF1 receptor antagonist SSR125543 attenuates long-term cognitive deficit induced by acute inescapable stress in mice, independently from the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis

► We describe the anti-stress effect of the CRF1 antagonist SSR125543. ► Results showed that this action does not necessarily involve HPA axis blockade. ► This suggests that extra-hypothalamic CRF1-Rs may play a role in these effects.
