Ovarian hormones and chronic administration during adolescence modify the discriminative stimulus effects of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9-THC) in adult female rats

► Animal model to assess the relationship between adolescent and adult drug abuse. ► Discriminative stimuli of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) were assessed. ► Ovarian hormones (OVX) modified the effects of chronic THC in adolescent female rats. ► Adolescent OVX and chronic THC affected the molecular protein CREB, but not ERK. ► OVX and chronic THC differentially affected the striatum and hippocampus.
