Isolation and characterization of two novel root-specific promoters in rice (Oryza sativa L.)

► Os03g01700 and Os02g37190 were highly expressed in root across developmental stages. ► The copy number of Os03g01700 and Os02g37190 showed the root-specific expression. ► GUS staining showed that Os03g01700 and Os02g37190 promoters were active in roots. ► The transcript levels of GUSPlus also were highly root-specific in transgenic rice. ► The two promoters can be useful for developing root-specific enhancement.
