Characterization of novel F-box proteins in plants induced by biotic and abiotic stress

► PvFBS1 mRNA from Phaseolus vulgaris accumulates in response to biotic and abiotic stress. ► PvFBS1 encodes an F-box protein, then an element of an SCF ubiquitin ligase complex. ► The Arabidopsis thaliana genome encodes 4 proteins, AtFBS1-4, with similarity to PvFBS1. ► AtFBS1 responds to biotic and abiotic stress and is subjected to a complex regulation. ► AtFBS1 interacts with ASK1, the component of the SCF complex that binds the F-box.
