Expression and purification of full length mouse metal response element binding transcription factor-1 using Pichia pastoris

► First ever production method for recombinant MTF-1 in Pichia pastoris reported. ► We show straightforward production of L7 → A7 MTF-1 mutant in MTF-1 acidic domain. ► Our method opens a wide range of previously unavailable mutational studies on MTF-1. ► DNA binding affinity from SPR of full length MTF-1 provides new functional insights. ► In vitro physical MTF-1-p300 interaction shown, expanding on earlier in vivo report.
