• Mutual diffusion coefficients of β-cyclodextrin sulfated sodium salt (NaSO3βCD) in aqueous solutions were measured.
• Influence of the viscosity, thermodynamic and temperature factors on the variation of diffusion was analysed.
• Estimation of the hydrodynamic radius of NaSO3βCD was obtained.

The Taylor dispersion technique has been used for measuring mutual diffusion coefficients of β-cyclodextrin sulfated sodium salt (NaSO3βCD) at temperatures (298.15 and 310.15) K and at finite concentrations. These studies have been complemented by density and viscosity measurements. From these experimental results, the hydrodynamic radius Rh, and its dependence on the viscosity, diffusion coefficient at infinitesimal concentration, D0, ion conductivity of NaSO3βCD and the thermodynamic factor, FT, have been estimated, permitting us to have a better understanding of the structure of the aqueous system containing NaSO3βCD.
