The anatomy of epilepsy

SummaryOptimal anti-epileptic drug (AED) therapy controls seizures in up to 70% of epileptic subjects, however the remaining 30% have poor seizure control and require new therapeutic strategies. This review discusses the anatomy of epilepsy which is slowly becoming clearer with the advent of improved analytical methodologies. Such improved knowledge will help in the development of rationale new strategies to treat intractable epilepsies.
