Revue de mortalité et de morbidité : enjeux et perspectives

A mortality and morbidity conference (MMC) is a collective, retrospective and system analysis of cases marked by the occurrence of a death, a complication or an event which could have caused harm to the patient; its objective is to implement and follow up actions to improve patient management and the safety of care. The review of mortality and morbidity is thus a method which makes possible the evaluation and improvement of professional practices, the improvement of knowledge through increased experience, continuous improvement of the quality and safety of care, and the management and control of risks (a posteriori method). It naturally forms part of the ongoing continuous professional development, certification of healthcare establishments and their risk management system.
