The incidence of general anaesthesia is less frequent in obstetrics due to the extended use of neuraxial analgesia. However, the later is not always feasible, and at the end of labour, general anaesthesia can be required (for delivery manoeuvres or uterine check in). Airway control is thus required in emergency with a rapid sequence induction for tracheal intubation considered as the gold standard for such procedure. Recent surveys document that current practices are far from guidelines that require to be revisited.
