Check-list « Sécurité du patient au bloc opératoire »

The surgical safety check-list has been established by the World Health Organization as part of the 'Save Surgical Lives' programme. A series of items is checked and collected on arrival of the patient in the operating theatre, before anaesthetic induction, before and at the end of the surgical procedure. Development and validation of the surgical check-list have been documented to decrease perioperative morbidity and mortality. A French version has been adapted, set up and evaluated by health care authorities. Simultaneous meeting of all health care providers is both an original part of the process and one of the main difficulties.
