Prise en charge périopératoire des patients souffrant d'anorexie nerveuse

Anorexia nervosa is a psychiatric disorder with a high mortality. Although encountering such a patient in anaesthetic practice may be relatively uncommon, the gravity of the associated multisystem sequelae is such that they should be fully appreciated and acted upon to ensure appropriate anaesthetic management. We offer an account of the far-reaching physiological consequences of anorexia nervosa and address the possible pitfalls of anaesthetising such patients.
