Anesthésie du sujet âgé : analyse épidémiologique du risque

The French population will become older in the near future due to the impact of baby boomers and to the improvement in life expectation. Consequently, the percentage of aged patients scheduled for surgery will increase. The effect of age on anesthetic risk must take into account comorbidities, expected complications of surgery and health care quality for the pathology considered in a given institution. For individual evaluation of anesthetic risk, simple, robust and reproducible indicators are required such as age, ASA score and Lee and Brooks-Brunn scores for cardiac and pulmonary specific risks.
