La rachianesthésie unilatérale

Unilateral spinal anaesthesia is performed with hyperbaric or hypobaric local anaesthetic solutions. Patients are placed in lateral position and small doses of local anaesthetic are administered to achieve a unilateral block. Unilateral spinal anaesthesia is associated with less arterial hypotension and less urinary retention than bilateral spinal anaesthesia. Ambulatory surgery patients and aged patients are especially prone to benefit from this anaesthetic technique.
