Allergy to local anaesthetics is extremely rare, in as much as compounds with amide function are considered. Grade 1 (cutaneous and mucosal) delayed allergic hypersensitivity is the most common reaction. An increase in histamine catabolizing enzyme during pregnancy may account for moderate reactions. A consultation with an allergologist and cutaneous tests must be planned when local anaesthetics allergy is suspected whatever the term of pregnancy. When local anaesthetics allergy has not been previously confirmed, a subcutaneaous administration of the product could be performed in laboring women. In case of cardiac arrest, resuscitation maneuvers are performed as usual except for left lateral positioning of parturients. Delivery by C-section must be performed if hemodynamic is not restored after five minutes of treatment.
