Évaluation du contenu gastrique par échographie : intérêt en anesthésie

Gastric content inhalation, although rare, is still one of the leading causes of anaesthesia-related death. Over the past few years, the use of ultrasonography has been developed in anaesthesia. Recently, studies have pointed out that ultrasonography could be used to evaluate gastric content. Ultrasonography is a rapid, simple, validated, and non-invasive diagnostic tool available at bedside in the settings of emergency and perioperative care. Gastric content evaluation through ultrasonography could be soon, included in a chart flow guiding induction of anaesthesia in patients at risk of inhalation.
