Anesthésie de l'enfant obèse

The prevalence of obesity is increasing in the world and in France among the general population, but also among children. Pediatric anesthesiologists have to deal more and more frequently with the management of overweight and obese pediatric patients for non-bariatric surgery. Perioperative morbidity, especially related to airway complications, is higher for this youth population when compared to normal weight pediatric patients. After defining obesity and epidemiologic trends, preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative management characteristics are outlined.
