Une expérience de collaboration médico-infirmière : la délégation de pose d'accès veineux central

We report a 3 years experience of central venous catheter (CVC) placements in cancer patients by trained nurses. Anaesthetists were called only after 3 unsuccessful attempts or in case of unexpected difficulties. This protocol was validated by the regional health care regulatory agency (ARS). Over the 3 years, 4087 CVC have been inserted under ultrasound guidance by nurses under the supervision of anesthesiologists. Up to now, no complication has been reported making it possible the extension of this practice in other institutions.
