Rachianesthésie titrée

Continuous spinal anaesthesia (CSA) allows titration of local anaesthetic administration through a spinal catheter. Surgical asepsis is required to perform the procedure. The spinal catheter is placed gently not too far in the CSF to avoid local anaesthetic solution heterogeneous distribution. A small initial dose is followed by additional doses if the block is not sufficiently extended. Local anaesthetic dose titration reduces the risk of hypotension. CSA is thus especially indicated in aged patients at risk of hypotension after spinal blockade.
