Tolérance des hydroxyéthylamidons (HEA) : où en est-on ?

Hydroxyethyl starch (HES) solutions are frequently used as plasma expanders to restore and maintain vascular volume, to stabilize haemodynamic conditions and/or to improve tissue perfusion such as in sepsis. Renal and haemostatic side effects of first and second generation HES restrict their clinical use. The development of third generation HES products has been supported by a need to improve safety and pharmacological properties while maintaining volume-expanding properties. Reduction in molecular weight (MW) and molar substitution (MS) have improved pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties and limited side effects, without any loss of volume expanding effect.
