Réanimation cardiopulmonaire chez la femme enceinte

A specific approach of the management of cardiac arrest in pregnant women is required due to physiological changes related to pregnancy. Patient should be placed in lateral decubitus at 27° to relieve vena cava compression by the gravid uterus. Orotracheal intubation is required to avoid gastric content inhalation and improve management of arterial oxygen desaturation. Ventricular defibrillation and adrenaline administration should be performed according to standard guidelines. Sodium bicabonates administration may worsen foetal acidosis and should be restricted. Cesarean section should be performed in emergency when pregnancy has lasted more that 20 weeks. Intralipid administration is recommended in case of local anaesthetic toxicity.
