La gabapentine et la prégabaline en anesthésie

Gabapentin and pregabalin are new anticonvulsivant which have demonstrated antihyperalgesic properties in the treatment of chronic pain syndromes for which they are recommended as first line treatments. They are reported to block α2δ1 voltage dependent N-calcium channels. Given as premedication, they decrease postoperative opioid consumption, nausea and vomiting, and improve pain control although they induce sedation. They may also prevent the occurrence of chronic pain after surgery.
