The results of this study indicate a deviation in the antioxidative system in children with CHD, in the DS group as well as in those without chromosomal anomalies. They also indicate a state of increased free radical generation. The interpretation of the significance of higher SOD-1 activity (protective or intensification of disturbances) remains unclear.
