This work describes all shellfish consumption data useful in benefit/risk assessment of shellfish consumption among a potential high consumer population: recreational shellfish harvesters. Standard shellfish harvester in Western Brittany is a man, 60 years old and older, married, retired, living in western Brittany and eating his harvest. Data on shellfish consumption only derived from recreational harvesting show a frequency of three shellfish meals by month; show that the two species consumed by most harvesters are hard shell clams and cockles; show that the two species consumed in the greatest measure (gram per person per day) are oysters and mussels and show that harvested shellfish consumption rate is equal to 11.6 g per person per day. Adding consumption of purchased shellfish, data show a frequency of seven shellfish meals by month; show that the species consumed in the greatest measure (gram per person per day) are spider crabs, mussels, abalones and oysters and that all sources shellfish consumption rate is equal to 26.2 g per person per day.
