Creating eppiccNURSE: A Web-Based System for Better Communication and Enhanced Regulatory Compliance

In 2007, the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing (BON) deployed a web-based system, called an education program portal and information communication channel (eppiccNURSE), to create efficiencies in the information exchange between the BON and Pennsylvania pre-licensure nursing education programs. This system replaced a traditional paper-based system. Over the last 4 years, eppiccNURSE has advanced regulation by enabling enhanced data collection through the aggregation, analysis, and retrieval of large quantities of data that previously were isolated points of data.
