چکیده انگلیسی
Using technology in education can help prepare nurses to meet the demands of the nursing shortage in the 21st century. Because boards of nursing approve nursing education programs in most states, regulators play an important role in the use of innovative teaching strategies for nursing curricula. Simulation, one type of technology that is growing rapidly in popularity, is designed to give students learner-centered education in which they direct their experience. To better prepare students for a simulation session, the authors developed simulation learning interactive modules (SLIMs). SLIMs are short, eLearning modules created using an instructional design framework for reviewing specific skills needed during simulation sessions.The SLIM educational tool had positive effects on students' learning in the simulation setting, reducing the need for faculty intervention, the amount of time required, and the number of students needing to complete the skill addressed in the SLIM. The tool also increased the time available for meeting learning objectives.
