Colorectal cancer, one of the most incident and mortal cancers in France, is associated with a western lifestyle. Prospective and meta-analysis studies published between 2010 and 2013 confirm the conclusions of the WCRF/AICR expertise published in 2011 between colorectal cancer and food intake. Convincing and probable relationships concern on the one hand, intakes of red meat, processed meat, and alcohol associated with an increased risk of colorectal cancer and on the other hand, intakes of fiber and wholegrain cereals products and milk linked to a decreased risk of colorectal cancer. The evidence of the relationships between a decreased risk of colorectal cancer and fruit and vegetables intakes is suggested. Modifications of diet associated with reducing sedentarity, overweight and obesity, smoking and with increasing physical activity, and practices of screening could reduce notably the burden of colorectal cancer in France.
