چکیده انگلیسی
Everybody does not regularly eat a breakfast: having a breakfast is not due to chance but is influenced by socio-demographic and family factors. First consensus, breakfast skipping may have some effects. Second one, all studies have shown that breakfast consumption is associated to a lesser body mass index. Explanations are complex and probably multifactorial. Recent studies are detailed. First, it could only be a social marker, linked with physical activity. Breakfast consumption has also effects on eating behaviour during the following meal and on dietary intakes during the whole day: observational and experimental studies give some different highlights. Its effect on nutritional and metabolic balance depends also on its composition; its role on cognitive function and mood is also depending on its consumption and composition. The most important seems its variety and complexity.
