Abord vasculaire et échographie : enquête de pratique auprès des anesthésistes-réanimateurs français en 2013

Ultrasound is helpful for vascular access. International guidelines recommend ultrasound guidance for all vascular access. In France, survey evaluation does not exist. We conducted an electronic survey from February to April 2013 for all members of the French Society of Anaesthesiologists. Univariate and multivariate logistic regressions were used to assess the association between the use of ultrasound and hospital and physician factors. From 4178 questionnaire sent, 695 were returned. The rate of response shows that most physicians used ultrasound guidance for jugular venous access, which was not the case for the other central venous access. The variables associated with the non-use of ultrasound guidance were identified using uni- and multivariate analysis. The ultrasound technique and the lack of availability for ultrasound equipment were associated with a diminution of the use of ultrasound guidance.
