Méthémoglobinémie par intoxication au « poppers » : intérêt de la mesure non invasive de la méthémoglobine en préhospitalier : à propos d'un cas

Methemoglobinemia is a potentially serious and often unknown complication of “poppers' addiction”. We report the case where this diagnosis, suspected by mobile intensive care unit (MICU)'s physician, has been confirmed out of hospital by noninvasive methemoglobin's measurement. This innovation permitted us to refer the patient properly and institute specific treatment by methylene blue. In our opinion, this could improve the management of this addiction at the time when “poppers”, main cause of acquired methemoglobinemia, is more and more in use.
