Sphingosine-1-phosphate induced vasoconstriction is increased in the isolated perfused kidneys of diabetic rats

We observed that in isolated perfused rat kidneys, sphingosine-1-phosphate produces S1P2 receptor-mediated vasoconstriction, and this response increased in kidneys of diabetic rats. These results suggest that the antagonists of S1P2 receptor may have potential as drugs to control diabetes-induced vascular complications.
