Severe dens invaginatus malformation in a mesiodens : A case report

Dens invaginatus (DI), commonly known as dens in dente, is a rare developmental anomaly resulting from invagination in the surface of a tooth crown before calcification has occurred. Dens Invaginatus, most commonly affects permanent maxillary lateral incisor teeth, however involvement of primary and supernumerary teeth is extremely rare. Dens invaginatus is fairly common in permanent teeth, although only a few instances have been reported in association with a mesiodens. An unusual presentation of a severe type of dens invaginatus affecting a mesiodens in a 10-year old male patient is reported. This case presentation aims to report a rare case of Dens Invaginatus associated with a mesiodens.
