Kaposi's sarcoma in a treated and well-controlled HIV infected patient: Discussion on the role of immunosenescence

Since 2007, several cases of HIV associated Kaposi's sarcoma despite a perfect HIV virological control and satisfactory immune reconstitution have been reported. Recently arguments in favor of the role of immunosenescence in these atypic cases were published. We report a case of recurrent Kaposi's Sarcoma in a patient that had presented an undetectable HIV viral load for over 12 years and had a CD4+ T-Lymphocytes count above 1000/mm3. In this patient, the immunosenescent phenotype was not found overrepresented among CD8+ T cells. We performed a review of the literature in order to discuss this case.
